Steffen Matthias, born in 1945, trained as a lawyer and was responsible in the autumn of 1990 for setting up and organising the office of the European Federation of Investment Funds and Companies (FEFSI) in Brussels. In 1991 he was appointed first permanent Secretary General of the Federation.
From 1976 to 1983 he was Executive Secretary for the most important German shareholder Association (DSW), where he particularly worked on issues relating to company law and securities markets.
In 1983 he moved to Paris to join the "Comite Europeen des Fabricants de Sucre".
From 1976 to 1988 he had a regular column in the German investment magazine "Das Wertpapier" and was the magazine's Paris correspondent from 1983 to 1988. Today, Steffen Matthias regularly contributes articles to various publications specialising in financial services and more particularly the investment funds industry.
