Pierre Francotte is Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Management Committee of Euroclear SA/NV. He is also Chairman of the Boards of Euroclear Bank, Euroclear France and CRESTCo.
Mr. Francotte joined Euroclear in 1993 as Assistant General Counsel. He became head of the Legal division in 1994. He then became head of the Transaction Processing division before being appointed Chief Operating Officer, with responsibility for settlement, custody and related operations, in 2000. Later in that year, he was appointed General Manager and, on the creation of Euroclear Bank in 2001, was appointed its first Chief Executive Officer.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Francotte was Assistant General Counsel at the International Monetary Fund.
Mr. Francotte holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law and a Master’s degree in Financial and Economic Law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium). He also holds a Master’s degree in Comparative Law from the University of Cambridge (UK).
