Dr. Muhammad Al-Jasser started his career at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy of Saudi Arabia as the Head of the Financial & Economic Analysis Unit in the Budget Department in 1981. Al-Jasser later joined the IMF as Economic Advisor to the Executive Director for Saudi Arabia in 1988, eventually becoming the Executive Director at the IMF, a post he held until 1995.

In 1995, he was appointed Vice Governor of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA), the central bank of Saudi Arabia. In addition to this position, he has also served as a member of the Saudi Arabian Negotiation Team on the accession of Saudi Arabia to the WTO and was honored with King Abdulaziz Medal of the First Order for his services to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
