Guy Morton is Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer's joint senior partner, effective 1 January 2006. Based in London, he was formerly the head of the firm's financial services practice. He specialises in banking, investment banking, securities regulation and financial markets. His sector experience includes securities, derivatives and insurance.

His clients include the Bank of England, Citigroup, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, Lloyd’s of London, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and UBS.

He served on the European Commission's Forum Group on Collateral in 1999 and assisted with the preparation of the Financial Collateral Directive; he is currently a member of the Financial Markets Law Committee and of the European Commission's Legal Certainty Group on EU clearing and settlement. Guy has also represented the United Kingdom in relation to international securities law conventions promoted by the Hague Conference on Private International Law and by UNIDROIT relating to securities.
