Gerry Grimestone is the chairman of Standard Life, the pensions, savings, and asset management company. He is also chairman of Candover Investments, a private equity company. He was a senior investment banker at Schroders and ran businesses in London, New York and Hong Kong. He was a civil servant in HM Treasury where he was responsible for privatisation during Margaret Thatcher's Government in the 1980's.

He sits on the boards of Standard Life’s joint ventures in India and China; and acts as the India Champion for the UK’s Financial Services Sector Advisory Board.
