Robert Mathavious - one of the architect's of the British Virgin Island's success as a financial centre - is the managing director of the BVI's Financial Services Commission. The Commission's fee income accounts for over 60 p.c. of BVI's state revenue, a figure that has held up well since the start of the financial crisis. Mathavious also took time off from his role as regulator to advise the country's Government on its fiscal strategy in the light of the Foot report and new OECD taxation regime.
