Economist and former investment banker, HRH Princess Maxima of the Netherlands was appointed in September 2009 by the UN Secretary-General, as his Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development because of her "extensive knowledge and expertise" on financial matters in developing countries. She addressed a preparatory conference for the G20 in Seoul in November 2010 on the topic.
