Chairman, High Level Group on Cross-Border Financial Supervision; Adviser - BNP Paribas

Jacques Larosière is the Chairman of the Strategic Committee of the French Treasury and Advisor to BNP Paribas.

In 2008, the European Commission appointed Jacques Larosière to chair a high-level group and to submit a report on proposed improvements to supervision of the financial system in the European Union. Following the publication of the 'de Larosière' report, the Commission proposed a legislative package leading to the creation of a European Systemic Risk Board and a European System of Financial Supervisors.

De Larosière was previously Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from June 17, 1978 to January 15, 1987, and Governor of the Banque de France from 1987 to 1993. In 1992, he became a member of the Washington-based financial advisory body, the Group of Thirty.
