Christopher McKenzie was the founding chairman of the BVI branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) serves as one of the two Council members of STEP Worldwide for the Caribbean region; he is also a member of the BVI-Government appointed Marketing Advisory Committee and Team BVI.

He chaired the committee, the proposals of which led to the enactment of the Virgin Islands Special Trusts Act, 2003 (VISTA), the Trustee (Amendment) Act, 2003 and the Property (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2003 and of the BVI's new regulations enabling exempt private trust companies to be set up. He was vice-president of the BVI Bar Association from 2003 to 2007 and also chairs the Bar Association’s committee to consider amendments to the BVI’s probate rules.

He is head of the private client department at Walkers' British Virgin Islands office and specialises in advising on all aspects of the BVI’s law relating to trusts, wills and estates.
